Chris Sale Silences Dodgers as Braves Win 1-0 on Drake Baldwin’s Solo Shot

Sale completed a nine-inning shutout with 11 strikeouts, turning Atlanta’s first-inning homer into the only run either team could produce.

Final: Los Angeles Dodgers 0 — 1 Atlanta Braves

Chris Sale delivered a complete-game shutout Monday night, and Drake Baldwin’s first-inning home run gave Atlanta a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Truist Park. Sale struck out 11 and allowed only two hits, denying Los Angeles a scoring chance across all nine innings. Yoshinobu Yamamoto matched the standard for most of the night, but Baldwin’s solo blast was enough to separate two lineups that never found a second run.

Baldwin supplied the decisive offense in the first inning, hitting the only home run of the game and driving in Atlanta’s lone run. Ozzie Albies, Michael Harris II and Ha-Seong Kim each added one hit, but the Braves did not need sustained production after Sale established control. Yamamoto was strong in defeat, working 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts and keeping Los Angeles within one run; Edgardo Henriquez added a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, but the Dodgers never generated the hit needed to change the game.

Atlanta improved to 79-55 and completed the sweep, tightening its position behind the 80-54 Dodgers in the standings while exposing the narrow margin between the clubs. The Braves won through frontline pitching and one precise offensive swing; Los Angeles will need more from its lineup after being held scoreless despite quality work from Yamamoto and the bullpen.
