Kevin Kelly followed with two scoreless innings and one strikeout, preserving the Rays’ three-run advantage through the eighth. Detroit starter Troy Melton was nearly as effective, covering seven innings with four strikeouts and a 1.86 ERA, but Tampa Bay’s timely offense gave him no margin for error.

Jonathan Aranda supplied the most consistent contact in the Rays’ lineup, going 2-for-3 and scoring once. Junior Caminero also collected two hits in four at-bats, while Liam Hicks, Cedric Mullins and Jonny DeLuca each drove in a run. Tampa Bay’s scoring came in the second and sixth innings, and that distribution mattered: the Rays built the lead before Detroit could settle into the game, then added insurance without needing a late rally.

At 79-54, Tampa Bay continues to convert its pitching depth into wins and leaves Detroit with a 62-71 record after a shutout in which the Tigers never scored in any inning. The Rays’ formula was direct and effective—Peralta controlled the middle innings, the offense capitalized on limited opportunities, and the bullpen closed the door. Detroit will need more offensive pressure against quality starters if it is going to reverse this kind of game.
