Blaze Jordan’s Three-Run Homer Gives Cardinals Enough Cushion to Hold Off Orioles, 7-5

St. Louis built a 6-1 lead through five innings, absorbed Baltimore’s three-run seventh, then answered in the eighth to secure the two-run win at Busch Stadium.

Final: Baltimore Orioles 5 — 7 St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals turned early power into a 7-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, scoring in three of the first five innings and never surrendering the lead. Blaze Jordan delivered the decisive blow with a three-run home run, while Ramon Urias also went deep and scored twice. Baltimore threatened late behind Coby Mayo’s three-run homer and a one-run eighth, but St. Louis restored its margin before closing out the game.

Jordan’s home run supplied three of St. Louis’ first six runs and defined the game’s middle innings. Urias added a solo shot and two runs scored, while Alec Burleson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, giving the Cardinals enough traffic around their power. St. Louis scored three runs in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth, forcing Baltimore to chase from an early 6-0 deficit before the Orioles finally broke through in the fifth.

Trevor Rogers struck out seven in five innings, showing the swing-and-miss arsenal that kept Baltimore within range, but he allowed six earned runs and could not contain the Cardinals’ damage against runners on base. Mayo’s three-run blast in the seventh cut the margin to 6-4, and Baltimore added another run in the eighth, but Gordon Graceffo stabilized St. Louis with three innings and four strikeouts. Cam Sanders also struck out four across two scoreless innings for Baltimore, yet the Orioles’ late pressure never produced the tying run.

The Cardinals leave Busch Stadium with a narrow win built on early run production and enough relief execution to withstand Baltimore’s late surge. St. Louis improves to 67-68, while the Orioles fall to 65-69; for both clubs, the result reinforces the value of converting power opportunities before the bullpen is forced into high-leverage damage control.
