Shane Baz gave Baltimore the stronger starting-pitching foundation, working 5.2 innings with four strikeouts and keeping Oakland from scoring through the first five innings. Jack Perkins matched him with five strikeouts across five innings for the Athletics, but four walks repeatedly extended Baltimore's opportunities and kept the Orioles' lineup alive. Baltimore scored once in the third and again in the fifth before both clubs traded two-run sixth innings, leaving the Orioles ahead 4-2.

Oakland answered with a run in the eighth to make it a one-run game, but Baltimore restored its two-run cushion in the ninth. Taveras's three RBI led the Orioles' offense, while Carlos Cortes went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Oakland and Donovan Walton added an RBI and a run scored. Jeff McNeil also collected two hits for the Athletics, but Oakland could not convert its traffic into enough late scoring to complete the comeback.

The victory moved Baltimore to 67-69 and gave the Orioles a result built on timely hitting, competent length from Baz and enough late-inning control to protect a narrow lead. Oakland fell to 53-83 after producing nine innings of pressure without the final hit needed to erase the deficit. For Baltimore, Taveras's production and the staff's ability to navigate the middle innings provide the clearest path forward; for Oakland, the four walks issued by Perkins and the missed late opportunities remain the defining problems.
